Charlotte Awards $1.723 Million in 2025 Creative Growth Grants to 106 Artists and Organizations |
City's Commitment to Arts and Culture Strengthens Local Creative Economy |
Charlotte's vibrant arts scene received a significant boost as the city announced the recipients of the 2025 Creative Growth Grants, distributing a total of $1.723 million to 106 artists and arts organizations.
This initiative underscores Charlotte's dedication to nurturing its creative community, enhancing the cultural fabric that defines the Queen City.
Mayor Vi Lyles emphasized the city's commitment, stating, "We are committed to strengthening our arts and culture ecosystem and fueling the creativity that exists in every corner of the Queen City."
The grants were allocated across three categories:
Operational Grants: 37 grants supporting the sustainability of grassroots arts and culture nonprofits.
Project Grants: 49 grants enabling innovative projects and community events by individual artists, collectives, and cultural nonprofits.
Professional Development Grants: 20 grants assisting artists in career growth and skill enhancement.
Among the notable recipients are:
ArtPop Street Gallery, which brings local art to public spaces across Mecklenburg County.
Raices Latino Arts, dedicated to celebrating and promoting Latin art and culture.
7th Street Concerts, transforming uptown Charlotte’s public spaces into community gathering places through live music.
City Manager Marcus D. Jones highlighted the impact of these grants, noting, "There was a deep pool of creative applicants, showcasing the vision and passion that make the Charlotte arts and culture ecosystem so strong."
This funding aligns with the Charlotte Arts and Culture Plan, adopted by City Council in 2023, focusing on deepening community engagement and creating sustainable pathways for artists and organizations to thrive.
