Free Health Screenings in Charlotte — May 2, 2026 (What to Know Before You Go)

One of Charlotte’s longest-running community events is back—and it might be the easiest way to check in on your health this year.

Charlotte moves fast.

New restaurants. New construction. Something always happening.

But in the middle of all that… it’s easy to forget one thing:

Your health.

This weekend gives you a reason to slow down.

The 19th Annual Community Day is back—and it’s completely free.

Charlotte Community Health Day

📍 Event Details

Saturday, May 2, 2026 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
First Baptist Church West 1801 Oaklawn Ave, Charlotte

No tickets. No registration.

Just show up.

What This Event Is Really About

This isn’t just another community gathering.

This year’s focus:

Addressing Health Disparities in the Black Community

In many parts of Charlotte, access to care isn’t equal.

Some neighborhoods have fewer screenings. Less access. Fewer resources.

This event brings those resources directly to the community.

What You’ll Actually Get

This is where it gets real.

Free health screenings—including:

  • Blood pressure
  • Blood sugar / glucose
  • Cholesterol
  • Body mass index (BMI)

No appointment needed.
No insurance required.
Just walk in and get checked.

More Than Just Screenings

There will also be:

  • Health and wellness speakers
  • Practical nutrition advice
  • Mental health resources
  • Community organizations

And yes… giveaways too.

Why This Matters

Most people don’t skip healthcare because they don’t care.

They skip it because:

  • It’s expensive
  • It’s inconvenient
  • It’s intimidating

This event removes all three.

That’s why it matters.

A Charlotte Staple

This event has been running for nearly two decades.

And the location matters.

First Baptist Church West is the oldest Black Baptist church in Charlotte—and a major part of the West End community.

This isn’t just a venue.

It’s a trusted space.

Make a Morning of It

Arrive early if you can.

It gets busy.

Parking is available, but carpooling helps.

Bring a friend.

(Seriously—people are way more likely to go when they don’t go alone.)

What to Bring

  • Comfortable clothes
  • Questions about your health
  • Someone who should come with you

That’s it.

The Bigger Picture

This isn’t just about one Saturday.

It’s about building better habits.

Understanding your numbers.

And making sure your community has access to care.

Quick Recap

  • Saturday, May 2 (9 AM – 1 PM)

Final Thought

You don’t need to overhaul your life this weekend.

Just take one step.

Get checked.

Bring someone with you.

Charlotte shows up for each other.

This is one of those moments.
