Wooden Robot Brewery Establishes Dan Wade Memorial Scholarship for Aspiring Brewers

Honoring a Legacy of Passion and Education in Charlotte's Brewing Community

In a heartfelt tribute to its late co-founder, Dan Wade, Charlotte's Wooden Robot Brewery has launched the Dan Wade Memorial Scholarship to support aspiring brewers.

This initiative aims to sponsor a student for the Appalachian State University Brewing Short Course scheduled for summer 2026.

The program offers comprehensive training in recipe development, brewing equipment, and technology.

Dan Wade, who tragically passed away in February 2024, was renowned for his dedication to brewing and education.

His wife and co-owner of Wooden Robot Brewery, Samantha Wade, emphasized his commitment to teaching, noting that he regularly hosted "Beer School" sessions for staff and local brewers.

To fund the scholarship, Wooden Robot organized a fundraising event in October 2025.

Proceeds from the sale of Cosmic Ballet, a beer named by Dan, were directed toward the cause.

The event successfully raised sufficient funds to cover tuition and travel expenses for one student.

Applications for the scholarship are open until January 1, 2026.

Interested candidates can submit a personal statement to danwadememorialscholarship@gmail.com.

This scholarship not only honors Dan Wade's legacy but also fosters the growth of future brewers in the Charlotte community.
